This week
is the week football really begins… at least for us at Pirate Radio!
All of our sports and football programming begin starting today.
Many of our programs are year-round, but some will begin anew this week.
This morning marks the debut of “The Morning Drive” with Jeff
Charles. It’s only on Pirate Radio 1250 & 930 every weekday
morning at 7am. We welcome Jeff on board daily to our radio
line-up. If you want to hear morning radio for Eastern Carolina
about Eastern Carolina, then this show is for you. There is no
other radio show in these parts like it, and there is no question this
will easily become one of the most listened to shows around for folks
that want info in the morning on their radio dial in a fun and
fast-paced format.
Tonight Coach Mack is back. His show this season is called “The
Next Level”. Coach Mack McCarthy's radio program was well
received last season, and we are glad to have him back on starting
tonight. Tune in every Monday night at 6pm for the latest in
sports and ECU news.
Tuesday's at 6pm have been hot with “The Press Box”. Brian Bailey
from Channel 9, Brian Meador from Channel 7, and Nate Summers from the
Daily Reflector, all do a great job in joining myself with a fun and
interesting hour of sports from a local media perspective. This
Tuesday night at 7pm, after "The Press Box", we will debut “Primetime
in the ACC”. The very popular Mark Packer, better known as
“Packman”, will be on with us every Tuesday night at 7pm, in addition
to his daily show already airing at 3pm. The "Packman" will also
be today's special guest on "Live @ 5". Packman will roll into
Greenville once again this season with the "Southern Fried Football
Tour". Pirate Radio will host him during the weekend of the WVA
game on Sept. 23rd. We will have more details on this during
today's "Live @ 5".
Jeff Charles is back at night with the season debut and the fan
favorite “From the Booth” Wednesday Night at 6pm. Join us this
week as we mark the 4th consecutive year of “From the Booth” with Jeff
Charles. Always a fan favorite, you won't want to miss any of
Jeff's solid radio programs.
The "fun bunch" is back again every Thursday Night at 7pm for "The
Miller Lite Sports Bar". The only show that lets "fans" take over
the radio station. Jonathan Ellerbe holds down the fort during
this wild hour of sports talk, betting lines, point spreads, and
whatever else happens to come up while the bar is open. At 7pm,
the "Overton's Locker Room" is back. This season we welcome back
Pirate Radio veteran Allen Thomas as host, and Chris Stansbury as
co-host. Chris is well known from his sportscaster days at
Channel 9, and has extensive knowledge on the world of sports. We
welcome him back into the media scene, and part of the Pirate Radio
family.
Friday's at 6pm is "Sportsline" with Josh Spence and Eric
Gilmore. This program will get you ready for a big weekend of
sports ahead, and keep you up to date with the latest in high school
football info. That program will take you up to "The Hardee’s
High School Game of the Week". This week we kickoff at Farmville
Central, as South Central rolls into town. We will be covering
all local teams, so stay tuned for live play-by-play of your favorite
school.
Once September rolls around and the ECU football season begins, we'll
be on the air 4 hours before kickoff for every ECU game with the
exclusive "Budweiser Pregame Tailgate". This extensive pregame
will once again be the best and biggest in the history of the
program. As soon as the game is over, the "Bill Clark Homes 5th
Quarter" begins. Once again, we will be on the air until
the last caller is served! This is your chance to sound off and
talk about the game with the Pirate Nation. This year we will
have a new wrinkle to the post game that will be a first of its
kind. (more info on this later this week!)
On Sundays we’re back as your radio home of the NFL. We will
feature 4 games each weekend, and have exclusive coverage of the 1pm,
4pm, and 8pm Sunday Night games, and Monday Night Football. Tune
in all season long through the playoffs and for Super Bowl 41!
I would like to personally thank the thousands of listeners that tune
in each day; the many fantastic businesses that advertise on the
stations; and our great staff behind the scenes. Thanks for
standing by Pirate Radio and helping to make it what it is today.
Without each of you, we have nothing. You are the greatest
resource we could ever ask for, and thank you for your loyal support
during the past year.
I know I speak for all of us at Pirate Radio when I say how excited we
are to have football season here, and we will work hard each day to
entertain and inform you better than anyone on the radio dial. We
have many other "irons in the fire" so to speak, and we look forward to
sharing more information with you soon.
Until then…. Are you ready for some football?!!
