It is with great pride that Pirate Media
Group, LLC officially announces the purchase of 930 WDLX-AM based in
Washington, NC. We will take over the day-to-day operations and
ownership once the FCC grants final approval, in July or August.
This marks our second station purchased in less than 2 years for our
company. With the addition of WDLX, we will double our listening
coverage area. What does this mean? It means that for
Pirate fans in Washington, Bath, Williamston, New Bern, and points east
of Greenville, you will now be a part of the Pirate Radio “family”.
What are our plans for the new station? First, we are going to
give it a level of attention it has not seen in
over a decade. We will fix the technical side so the station is
running to the best of its ability. Currently it is not at full
power. We will bring new life and a new identity to a great
signal covering a large part of Eastern North Carolina.
We will keep the programs people want to hear. Rush will sound
better than ever once some work is done with the transmitter. We
have retained the rights to his show, which can be heard weekdays from
noon until 3pm. We also plan to add a tremendous amount of local
programming. So if you’re an ECU fan, this is good news for
you. Expect to hear all of the same great local programming
currently on 1250 on 930 soon!
This move is a major commitment for Jonathan Ellerbe and myself.
With the addition of 930, we will have invested well over one million
dollars in these two stations. This we believe is the largest
investment ever made east of I-95 on the AM band. As we grow our
company, we will always take ECU with us. We are Pirates first,
and we will continue to provide you with the finest radio programming
for the Pirate Nation.
In closing, let me personally thank each one of you. Without our
listeners and sponsors, none of this would be possible. Thanks
for that time you spend with us each day. It means more to us
than you will ever know. With your continued support, we will be
able to have more announcements like this in the future.
